Meg Guidon has been appointed to the British Film Office in Los Angeles as its first visual effects sector representative.

Guidon, who has worked with such post houses as Cinesite and Mill Film in London, will take up her position in August, working under the title of visual effects marketing executive.

The post, jointly funded by the industry and the government, is sponsored by companies such as Soho Images, Men In White Coats and Moving Picture Co, along with the Department for Trade and Industry and the British Film Commission.

Guidon's brief is to raise the UK's profile with leading US production companies and help market British skills.
