The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), the largest film critics group in North America, has announced its winners for the sixth annual Critics' Choice Awards to be presented on Jan 22 in Los Angeles.

Only one award remains undecided - Best picture for which the BFCA has put forward 11 nominations; the winner will also be announced on Jan 22.

Those 11 are (in alphabetical order) Almost Famous, Billy Elliot, Cast Away, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Erin Brockovich, Gladiator, Quills, 13 Days, Traffic, Wonder Boys and You Can Count On Me.

Best Actor: Russell Crowe Gladiator
Best Actress: Julia Roberts Erin Brockovich
Best Supporting Actor: Joaquin Phoenix Gladiator, Quills & The Yards
Best Supporting Actress: Frances McDormand Almost Famous & Wonder Boys
Best Director: Steven Soderbergh Traffic
Best Original Screenplay: Cameron Crowe Almost Famous
Best Screenplay Adaptation: (tied) Stephen Gaghan Traffic & Steve Kloves Wonder Boys
Best Cinematography: John Mathieson Gladiator
Best Production Design: Arthur Max Gladiator
Breakthrough Performer: Kate Hudson Almost Famous
Best Child Performer: Jamie Bell Billy Elliot
Best Animated Feature: Chicken Run
Best Family Film (live action): My Dog Skip
Best Foreign Language Film: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Best Feature Documentary: The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg
Best Song: "My Funny Friend and Me" from The Emperor's New Groove, music and lyrics Sting
Best Composer: Hans Zimmer Gladiator, Mission: Impossible 2 & The Road To El Dorado

The BFCA also gave a comic award for Best Inanimate Object to Wilson, the volleyball with which Tom Hanks develops a rapport, in Cast Away.
