BVI enjoyed a stellar weekend in the UK this week with seven films in the top 15, Kill Bill, Volume 1 setting records at the UCI Empire Leicester Square (see separate story) and animated hit Finding Nemo crushing all competition to lead the box office with a $12.3m (£7.4m) opening.

Nemo was BVI's biggest opening weekend this year, nearly $4m more than June's Jim Carrey comedy Bruce Almighty, and is the second highest of the year behind The Matrix Reloaded ($14.8m).

It ranked just behind Toy Story 2's wide launch in Feb 2000 ($12.8m) in Pixar's UK performance history. Including a week's platform release at the Odeon Leicester Square in London last week Finding Nemo has grossed $12.7m to date from the UK and Ireland.
