The Un Certain Regard sidebar has awarded its top honour to Cristian Nemescu's California Dreamin' (Endless).

The Romanian title stars Armand Assante and Jamie Elman and is handled by Mediapro Distribution.

The Jury Prize went to Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi's second feature, Actresses, starring Mathieu Amalric, Jean-Hughes Anglade and the director.

The film hails from the Wild Bunch stable. The Coup de Coeur award was given to comedy, The Band's Visit by Eran Kolirin about a brass band made up of Egyptian policemen who travel to Israel.

The Un Certain Regard jury was presided over by Pascale Ferran with Jasmine Trinca, Qin Bian, Cristi Puiu and Kent Jones.

Meanwhile, the Ecumenical jury has awarded Fatih Akin's main competition film The Edge Of Heaven with its top prize. The lauded film stars Hanna Schygulla in what has been tipped as an award-winning performance.
