Catalan newcomer Pau Freixas' Camara Oscura is set to open the Sitges International Film Festival, which this year has pushed its dates back to run Nov 27 - Dec 7.
Greg Marcks' US-Canadian co-production 11:14, starring Hilary Swank, Rachel Leigh Cook and Patrick Swayze, will close a high-profile line-up unveiled on Tuesday (Nov 4) by festival director Angel Sala.
The packed Official Fantastic genre competitive section, which runs parallel to a more all-encompassing Gran Angular section and the new talents Noves Visiones section, is made up of mostly Asian and European titles this year. A full line-up is available at www.sitges.com.
Other sidebars include the Orient Express Section; Catalan Audiovisual Day, featuring new local TV movies and documentaries; New Authors section, featuring works from film school students; little-seen critics' choice films, Seven Chances; video-based Brigadoon; and Resistencies, a joint venture with France's Festival Resistances.
