Montreal-based Remstar Distribution and Prophecy Entertainment have signed an output deal that gives Remstar a first-look option at the next four projects in development at the Vancouver-based production and sales house. The deal follows Remstar's acquisition of two Prophecy titles, Ripper: Letter From Hell and The Barber for distribution in Canada.
Prophecy is slating projects over the fall and winter of 2001 and expects to complete the four-picture agreement with Remstar over the next eight months. Prophecy is expected to announce the first project shortly.
In a joint statement, Remstar president Julien Remillard said, "Remstar is on the lookout for quality Canadian productions with commercial viability and Prophecy is producing some of the best films in Canada."
Prophecy president and CEO Petros Tsaparas said "Remstar has a reputation for distributing quality programming and this agreement will provide us with a first-rate channel to distribute our films in Canada, giving each a real opportunity to 'break-out'."
