Filmmakers and financiers from Brazil, Argentina and Mexico will join international delegates at this year's Strategic Partners Co-Production market in Halifax, Nova Scotia (September 12-14).

Run in conjunction with the Atlantic Film Festival, this three-day concentrated market has a strong core attendance from Canada, the US and the UK, as well as delegations from the spotlight countries, whose selection is based on industry growth, spiking business activity and consultation with regular Strategic Partners attendees.

'Argentina has a booming production industry with many of their most recent projects pursuing international partners, while award-winning films by Mexican talent, Pan's Labyrinth, Babel, Y Tu Mama Tambien and Children Of Men have put its industry on the international map,' says Jan Miller, director of Strategic Partners. 'And several Canadian film and television producers are already in discussions with Brazilian production companies as a result of previous Brazil/Canada trade missions'.

'[Therefore], combined with the Canadian federal government's recent interest in Latin America, [we felt] the timing is perfect for Strategic Partners to spotlight threesuch dynamic film and TV production industries.'

Miller recently attended Cinemart and will travel to Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo and Guadalajara over the coming weeks to meet with potential delegates.

As a result of their participation in last year's event, 131 projects are now in development, and exit survey results indicate over 80% of delegates plan to return to do further business, according to the event's organisers.

The call for applications from film and TV producers, broadcasters, distributors and financiers will open shortly. The deadline for applications is July 9.
