Germany's Kinowelt International and Canal Plus Polska have signed a three-year agreement which gives Canal Plus' Polish pay-TV offshoot exclusive broadcast rights to all New Line Cinema titles.

The agreement covers all titles distributed by Kinowelt International - a subsidiary of Kinowelt Medien which handles the German group's international development through joint ventures - and its Polish offshoot, Kino Swiat International, launched at the beginning of last year.

Kino Swiat's chairman Tomasz Karczewski said in a statement: "[The deal] demonstrates our ability to effectively distribute high quality products while continuing to strengthen our market position."

New Line titles include the recently released Lost Souls by Polish film-maker Janusz Kaminsky and starring Winona Ryder as well as the upcoming Rush Hour 2, Johnny Depp-starrer Blow and the first episode of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Canal Plus Polska's CEO Christian Kozar who also heads Canal Plus' operations in Central and Eastern Europe, stated: "New Line Cinema is the sixth US studio, with Universal, Paramount, MGM, Fox and DreamWorks, to accord Canal Plus Polska exclusive right for its pictures."
