The Cannes Film Festival has announced the lineup for this year'sedition of Cannes Classics. The initiative is a specially programmed sectionwhich screens new and restored copies of old films.

Special invitees include Oliver Stone for a screening of a restoredversion of Platoon and 20 minutes of his forthcoming film World TradeCenter. Also on hand will be actress - and wife of Sidney Poitier - Joanna Shimkus who will present Roberto Enrico's 1967 film LesAventuriers in the presence of Enrico's family. Danielle Darrieux will present Anne Fontaine's Nouvelle Chance.

Four of director Carol Reed's films will be shown: The Fallen Idol, OddMan Out, The Way Ahead, and A Kid For Two Farthings.

Alejandro Jodorowsky will be present for screeningsof two of his films, El Topo and The Holy Mountain,while the festival will screen 13 short films by animation master Norman McLaren.

A 60th anniversary tribute to the Nederland Filmmuseumwill include a screening of Julien Duvivier's silent 1927 film Le MystereDe la Tour Eiffel.
