Zuzana Kirchnerova-Spidlova’s short film Baba has been awarded the Cinefondation first prize.
The jury, led by English film-maker John Boorman, awarded the second prize to China’s Song Fang for Goodbye and third place was given in a tie to Israel’s Yaelle Kayam for Diploma and Korea’s Jo Sung-hee for Don’t Step Out Of The House. The winners were selected from a group of 17 student films.
The first prize comes with a purse of $20,992 (€15,000) with second place earning $15,742 (€11,250) and third taking home $10,493 (€7,500). The winners will also be assured of a spot in Cannes for their first feature film under the official selection heading.
