EXCLUSIVE: Global Screen closes deals on new animation Richard the Stork [pictured].
German sales outfit Global Screen has closed a trio of pre-sales on new 3D animation Richard the Stork ahead of the Cannes Marche.
Deals closed with Bona Entertainment for China, Woo Sung Entertainment in Korea and Kino Swiat in Poland on the title which is currently in production and set for a 2016 delivery.
Directed by Toby Genkel and Reza Memari, the feature tells the story of a sparrow who is orphaned at birth and raised by storks and spends his life trying to fit in.
Memari’s script was nominated for Best German Animation Screenplay at the International Animation Film Festival in Stuttgart.
Producers are Memari and Knudsen & Streuber Medienmanufaktur. Co-producers are Hamburg-based animation outfit Ulysses Films. Rise FX are among the animation and VFX producers.
Global Screen and Ulysses previously collaborated on Niko & The Way To The Stars and its successor Niko 2 – Little Brother, Big Trouble. The two will also team on recent Global acquisition Ooops, Noah Is Gone.
