Robert Carlyle, star of the hotly pursued Directors Fortnight title Once Upon A Time In The Midlands, has boarded psychological thriller Saying Goodbye To Mr. Welcome, which Gillian Barrie of Sigma Films will co-produce with Denmark's Zentropa.

Scottish actor-turned director Kenny Glenaan (Gas Attack) will direct the Brendan Somers' script about a couple brought back together by the mysterious disappearance of their child. The filmmakers hope to attract either Emily Watson or Shirley Henderson for the female lead. It shoots from Feb 2003 with a $3.5m budget.
