Carrie Fisher, the writer and actress who famously played Princess Leia in the Star Wars trilogy, will host the British Academy Of Film & Television Arts/Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA)'s 11th annual Britannia Awards show on April 12. Star Wars creator George Lucas is being honoured at the awards show with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence In Film, while HBO Original Programming is receiving the Britannia Award for Excellence In Television.

"It will be my pleasure to host the Britannia Awards this year, and to honor my friend George and HBO," said Fisher. "Both honorees have created groundbreaking, daring and memorable entertainment that will live on and on. I'm very proud to be able to share the evening with them."

Fisher's other film credits include Shampoo, Hannah And Her Sisters, When Harry Met Sally and Soapdish.
