CEO of The Indian Film Company and Studio 18 Sandeep Bhargava announced his departure from the Indian film studio.

Bhargava will have been with the company for four years when he leaves at the end of the month. “I have quit and have something big to look forward to which I will announce at the right time,” said Bhargava, who has eight years of experience in the media and entertainment space having previously worked with UTV and Sahara One Motion Pictures.

One year after Bhargava joined Studio 18 (June 2006), the Indian film production company was listed on the London Stock Exchange and raised $81.3m (£55m) as The Indian Film Company (TIFC). During his tenure as CEO, The Indian Film Company and Studio 18 big hit Hindi movies including Jab We Met, Welcome, Golmaal Returns, Singh Is Kinng and Ghajini. He also focused on de-risking the business by getting into the syndication model for content for televised viewing as well as limited music rights.

This is the third top level departure Studio 18 has seen over the last few months. Priti Shahani, who has senior vice president, marketing, distribution and syndication, TIFC moved to Reliance Big Pictures as chief strategy and marketing officer while Aman Gill, who was director - domestic distribution at TIFC joined the Hindi film production division of Endemol.
