Hong Kong's CelestialPictures has promoted international sales chief Gordon Cheung to the newposition of executive vice president, acquisitions & distribution.

In his new role, Cheung willoversee Celestial's new movie productions, content acquisition and thedistribution of new film content. The company, which owns and distributes the760-title Shaw Brothers library, is currently expanding its activities toencompass production finance and acquisition of new productions.

'Gordon will play a vitalrole as our project leader and catalyst to drive these major initiatives asCelestial Pictures further expands its businesses,' said Celestial CEO WilliamPfeiffer.

Among Celestial's newactivities, the company is co-financing Peter Ho-sun Chan's US$10m musicalPerhaps Love with its parent company Astro and Hong Kong broadcaster TVB.Celestial is also handling worldwide sales on the film which is currentlyshooting in Shanghai.

The company has also madetwo appointments to the television side of its business. Terry Mak, formerlyassistant general manager of TVB International, has been appointed as executivevice president, distribution & television networks while Annie Ng has beennamed general manager, television, China.
