Artisan Pictures has hired Monica Chuo as its vice president of acquisitions based in Los Angeles. She will report directly to the company's executive vice president Patrick Gunn, and fills the space left by senior vice president, acquisitions, Leilani Forby who left Artisan recently to join former Artisan colleague John Hegeman at Revolution Studios.

In her newly appointed role, Chuo is responsible for identifying and pursuing completed films for theatrical release. She joins Artisan from DNA Studios where she was head of business development, overseeing the development of relationships and creation of web content strategy with DNA's film, TV and music clients. Prior to that, she was director of acquisitions and development at Samuel Goldwyn Films and before that, she was marketing coordinator for MGM/UA.

Artisan's upcoming releases include documentaries Standing In The Shadows Of Motown and Amandla! A Revolution In Four Part Harmony, and Dylan Kidd's comedy Roger Dodger starring Campbell Scott, Isabella Rossellini and Jennifer Beals.
