The world's largest co-production market, Rotterdam'sCineMart, has announced 2006's final selection. Atotal of 45 projects in advanced stages of production, including new films fromAmat Escalante, Pablo Trapero,Guy Maddin, He Jianjun andJan Svankmajer are now eligible to present to anestimated 800 producers, TV buyers, sales agents,distributors and fund representatives at the Jan 29-Feb 2 event. CineMartreceived 450 applications this year, according to heads Maritvan den Elshout and Bianca Taal.Running as part of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR, Jan 29-Feb 2), CineMart was the world's first co-production market and hasbeen used as a model for international markets from Pusan to Berlin.

This year, nine features in Rotterdam's official selection are former CineMart projects, including Cannes titles Me AndYou And Everyone We Know, Havana Blues, Blood and San Sebastian winner Something Like Happiness,from the Czech Republic.

High-profile independent film-makers returning to Rotterdam for CineMartinclude 4's Ilya Khrzanovsky,Jan Krüger (En Route), Park Chan-Ok (JealousyIs My Middle Name) and Malaysia's Ho Yuhang (Sanctuary).

CineMart 2006 will also include new editions ofthe Rotterdam Lab (a training workshop for producers), Passions & Promises(a presentation forum for directors in official selection) and the Rotterdam-Berlinale Express. The latter, a collaboration between IFFR and the Berlinale, brings three CineMartProjects to Berlin as selections of the Berlinale's Co-Production Market.
