Austrian exhibitor also announces new screens in Macedonia and Serbia.

Austrian cinema chain and Constantin subsidiary Cineplexx has acquired Slovenian exhibitor TUS, which operates five cinemas in the country.

The five cinemas comprise 7,500 seats across 32 screens and will bolster the company’s recent push in South Eastern Europe.

“After our successfully established cinemas in Northern Italy, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, these five cinemas in Slovenia are the next logical step in our further strategic expansion into Central Europe,” said Christian Langhammer, CEO, Cineplexx.

Cineplexx also announced plans to open a nine-screen cinema in Skopje, Macedonia in autumn 2012, and a second Belgrade multiplex cinema in autumn 2013.
