In a recent article on Screendaily.com (April 19), Golden Harvest Entertainment managing director CK Phoon was quoted as saying that Golden Harvest "bankrolled about 30% of the production slate of Media Asia Group in 1999." This may have been taken as implying that Golden Harvest invests directly in Media Asia's feature productions. This is not the case, clarified Media Asia. Media Asia finances its own productions and from time to time, has co-financed projects such as Tempting Heart with Toho-Towa from Japan and 2000A.D. with Raintree from Singapore. Golden Harvest acted simply as Media Asia's theatrical distributor for Hong Kong in 1999 for five films.
