In the wake of Duncan Clark's departure from Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International (CTFDI), parent company Sony Pictures has promoted three senior executives in CTFDI's marketing department.

Nigel Clark, formerly senior vice president of international marketing, has been promoted to executive vice president, international marketing. Susan van der Werff, formerly vice president, publicity and promotions, has been upped to senior vice president, publicity and promotions; and Martin Bachmann, formerly marketing director for the CTFDI German office has been relocated to Los Angeles and named senior vice president of international marketing.

The announcements were made by Jeff Blake, president of worldwide distribution for Columbia Pictures and Robert Levin, president of worldwide marketing.

The move strengthens the marketing department at a time when it is clear that Duncan Clark won't be replaced at CTFDI. Nigel Clark moved to Los Angeles from London in 1996 to oversee theatrical marketing for all territories outside of North America. He now reports jointly to Blake and Levin.

Van der Werff, who began her career in the sales department of Columbia Pictures in 1992, continues to report to [Nigel] Clark. Bachmann, who started out as a management trainee at Columbia TriStar Film GmbH, will help Clark spearhead marketing campaigns for all CTFDI theatrical releases.
