Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group has acquired the majority of international rights to Renny Harlin's action thriller Mindhunters from Intermedia.

CTSMPG bought rights in France, Italy, the UK, Japan, Korea, Latin America and Australia & New Zealand among other territories to the movie that is being distributed by Dimension Films in North America.

In the film, which is co-produced by Intermedia-based Outlaw Productions and Cary Brokaw's Avenue Pictures, seven new FBI recruits are taken to a remote island to learn how to track a serial killer, only to find that they have a killer amongst them. Heading the cast are LL Cool J, Val Kilmer, Christian Slater, Jonny Lee Miller and Clifton Collins Jr.

Lauren Films has rights to the film in Spain, while a deal is close in Germany. The deal was closed between Jere Hausfater, Intermedia's chairman of worldwide distribution and acquisition, and Benjamin Feingold, president of CTMPG and Columbia TrIStar Home Entertainment.

Producers on the film are Outlaw's Bobby Newmyer (SIC), Jeff Silver and Scott Strauss alongside Brokaw, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and Harlin's producing partner Rebecca Spikings.

Other territories sold to Sony were Malaysia, Singapore, India and Pakistan and Portugal.
