Contentfilm has acquiredworldwide rights to The King, anew project by Monster's Ballscreenwriter Milo Addica which he co-wrote with James Marsh. Marsh will directthe film which will star Gael Garcia Bernal, the Mexican actor who will make ithis next film after Pedro Almodovar's Bad Education.

The King will be produced by Addica with Edward Pressman,chairman of ContentFilm, Sofia Sondervan and James Wilson as executiveproducers. It tells the story of a 21 year-old called Elvis just out of theNavy who seeks out the father he never knew only to find out that he is now thepastor of a Baptist church in Texas who wants nothing to do with Elvis.

Production is tentavilyscheduled to begin at the end of the year on the film which was originallyscheduled to be produced by FilmFour. FilmFour's Wilson who had been in chargeof the project will continue to be involved with it. Marsh is best known as theaward-winning documentary film-maker whose credits include Wisconsin DeathTrip.

ContentFilm head of businessaffairs Michael Roban negotiated the deal for the film with attorney JodiPeikoff who represents Addica and Marsh. Garcia Bernal is represented byEndeavor in Los Angeles and Gordon & French in London. ContentInternational is handling the film at the market.
