Fortissimo Film Sales has secured a US release for its All About Lily Chou Chou through Cowboy Films.

The film, a futuristic romance by Japanese director Iwai Shunji, premiered at Toronto and was the closing film at last week's New York Film Festival. Cowboy also announced that it had bought Iwai's April Story.

Cowboy, formerly known as Cowboy Booking International, recently picked up another Japanese picture, Shohei Imamura's Cannes competition film Warm Water Under A Red Bridge, through Code Red its joint venture acquisition label with Antidote Films. In recent months it has also bought Catherine Breillat's Fat Girl (A Ma Soeur) and, from Orfeo Films, Lucretia Martel's The Swamp (La Cienaga).

The Lily deal was negotiated by Wouter Barendrecht of Fortissimo and Cowboy Pictures' Noah Cowan and John Vanco.
