Jean-Marc Vallee's C.R.A.Z.Y. picked up 12 nominations and Deepa Mehta's Water earned nine Canada's Genie Awards. Both films werenominated for Best Motion Picture and Best Achievement in Direction.

Michael Dowse's It's AllGone Pete Tong had eight nominationswhile Luc Picard's debut feature L'Audition and Andre Turpin's Familia had seven. Five films earned five nominationsincluding Michael McGowan's Saint Ralph, Atom Egoyan's Where The Truth Lies, Luc Dionne's Aurora, Gary Yates' Seven Times Lucky and Eric Canuel's La Survenant.

Where The Truth Lies, which premiered last year at Cannes in competition, was overlooked in the picture and direction categories; however Egoyan receiveda nod for adapted screenplay. The film was nominated for editing, artdirection, score and sound.

It should be pointed outthat although David Cronenberg's A History Of Violence was named Best Canadian Film by the Toronto FilmCritics Association, its US-financing rendered it ineligible under Genieregulations.

The 26th annualawards will be presented March 13.
