The SheffieldInternational Documentary Festival has appointed Heather Croallas its new director.

She starts her newpost in early April and this year's Sheffield event will be held October 30-November 5.

Croall was previously director ofAustralian International Documentary Conference. She also previously worked forthe South Australian Film Corporation and as a documentary producer, festivaldirector, and consultant.

She replaces Brent Woods, who left his festival post at the end ofJanuary and is now focusing on further developing his consultancy business.

"We are delighted to welcome Heather to leadthe festival team, I am confident that she will take this already establishedfestival on to new heights," said Sheffield festival chair Steve Hewlett. "Witha track record of successful events management, an established reputation andboundless energy and enthusiasm, Heather will make a great addition to a teamready to take on new challenges."
