Principal photography has begun in Toronto on Jamie Thraves' Cry Of The Owl with Paddy Considine, Julia Stiles and Caroline Dhavernas in the lead roles.

Adapted by Thraves from the novel by Patricia Highsmith, the Canada-Germany co-production follows the tortured path of a voyeur who become entangled with the object of his desire - an entanglement that turns deadly.

The film is produced by Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre, Julia Sereny, Jennifer Kawaja, Malte Grunert and Sytze van der Laan. Executive producers are David Thompson, Jamie Laurenson and Michael Wood of BBC Films and Steve Ujlaki and Kirk D'Amico of Myriad Pictures. Myriad is handling international sales.

Cinematography is by Luc Montpellier, production design by Matthew Davies, costume design by Lea Carlson and casting by Pam Dixon.

Cry Of The Owl will be distributed in Canada by Christal Films. The film is produced by Sienna Films, Studio Hamburg and MACT Productions with the participation of BBC Films, ICB Entertainment Finance, Ontario Media Development Corporation, Astral Media The Harold Greenberg Fund, The Movie Network and Super Ecran, Astral Media Networks in association with Movie Central/Corus.

Shooting continues until December 11 in Toronto. Release is slated for Autumn 2008.
