The third edition of the BUFF festival for children's and youth films in Sandnes, Norway (November 13-18) will open with the international premiere of Danish production Diver, the latest film from Swedish director Ake Sandgren. The festival will end with another Danish entry, Miracle, directed by Natasha Arty.

In total, 80 international children's features and shorts will be screened at the event. Directors Ake Sandgren from Sweden, Peter van Wijjk from the Netherlands, Mindong-Hyun from Korea and Jeannine Gange from Canada are scheduled to attend.

Titles confirmed to screen include UK productions Animal Farm, directed by John Stephenson, Stephen Daldry's Billy Elliot and Phil Davies' Hold Back The Night; US title Lloyd, directed by Hector Barron; Chinese director Xu Geng's Thatched Memories; Michael W. Horsten's Back To Town from Denmark; and Swedish titles Double 8 from Daniel Fridell and Ulf Malmros' The Best Summer.

The films will be judged by an international jury led by Renate Zylla, director of Berlin's Kinderfilmfest, a Nordic jury and an audience jury. A sidebar will be devoted to international festival directors' favourite films. A seminar on violence in children's films, with a special focus on Pokemon fever, is also being arranged.
