Kunal Dasgupta has quit as CEO of India's Multi Screen Media (MSM), previously known as Sony Entertainment Television (SET), after almost 14 years in the role.

Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) issued a statement on Thursday saying that Dasgupta had resigned for 'personal reasons'.

However, local press is speculating that his departure is related to a dispute between MSM and the Board of Cricket Control India over sponsorship of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket.

Reliance ADA Group's Big TV recently pulled out of thetop-rating cricket league after discovering that it was not the exclusive on-ground sponsor of the event.

Dasgupta is also co-chairman of the FICCI entertainment committee and spoke at the10th FICCI Frames confab on Tuesday (Feb 17).

Hehas headedSET since it launched in India as a single channel in 1995. It now operates several channels including MAX, SAB and PIX.

MSM board chairman Man Jit Singh will take over from Dasgupta until a replacement is found.
