The deals kept on closing yesterday as Focus Features picked upmultiple territory rights to Pawel Pawlikowski's My Summer Of Love and Newmarket Films bought NorthAmerican rights to Lukas Moodysson's highly controversial A Hole In My Heart.

Meanwhile Fine Line Features and HBO Films confirmed that theywould be teaming to release Lucrecia Martel's The Holy Girl which screened here last night.

Focus took rights in North America, Scandinavia,Australia, New Zealand and the CIS to My Summer Of Love which won the Michael Powell Award for Best BritishFeature at Edinburgh last month and is screening here in Contemporary WorldCinema.

The Works sold the film to which ContentFilm bought UK rights inJuly.

"Wehad to be the ones to bring his film to America," said Focus co-president DavidLinde yesterday.

The deal on the Moodysson film continues a relationship betweenNewmarket partner Bob Berney and Moodysson which stretches back to Together when Berney was at IFC Films. When hemoved to Newmarket, he bought Moodysson's Lilja 4-Ever. Newmarket recently closed athree-picture deal with Hole's sales company Trust Film Sales covering Old, New, BorrowedAnd Blue, In Your Handsand Daybreak.

"Lukas Moodysson is a fearless director with a distinct visionrarely seen in today's marketplace," said Berney. "We will take great pains toensure the care of A Hole in My Heart's distribution. It's and amazing film that will at once touchaudiences and demand thought."

Trust also closed deals on both A Hole In My Heart and Susanne Bier's Brothers with California Film in Brazil andRosebud in Greece and on A Hole In My Heart with Icelandic Film Corp in Iceland.

HBO Films London originally acted as the international sales agenton The Holy Girlwhich is produced by Pedro and Agustin Almodovar's El Deseo. Fine Line and HBO,which this weeked passed $5m at the box office with Maria Full Of Grace, plan to release the film in the firstquarter of 2005. It will be their fourth joint release after Maria, AmericanSplendor and Elephant.

The Holy Girl played in competition at Cannes and isalso scheduled to play the New York Film Festival next month.
