The 13th annual Gen Art Film Festival will open on April 2 in New York City with Terry Kinney's Diminished Capacity starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Alda and Virginia Madsen. The comedy had its world premiere at Sundance in January.

The festival - which has a programme of seven features and seven shorts - traditionally introduces emerging North American film-makers. Prizes are given to best feature and short worth $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.

Closing the event on April 8 is The Take directed by Brad Furman and starring John Leguizamo, Tyrese Gibson, Bobby Cannavale and Rosie Perez.
