Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired US rights to documentary People v The State of Illusion.

Goldwyn and Intention Media plan to release the film in March.

Directed by Scott Cervine and written and produced by lawyer and professional speaker Austin Vickers, People v The State of Illusion is set in the New Mexico State Penitentiary and tells the story of a single father who is arrested and tried on charges following an incident that claims the life of a woman. Through interviews with a number of experts the film explores the science and power of perception and imagination.

Goldwyn president Meyer Gottlieb said: “We were taken with Austin’s film and think he is an amazing talent. As we saw with the success of What The Bleep Do We Know!? [Goldwyn’s surprise hit 2004 documentary], these kinds of films strike a chord with moviegoers and we have no doubt that People v The State of Illusion will continue the trend.”
