The distributor has acquired US and Canadian rights to the true-life drama starring Jaime King.

Tom Anton’s film is based on the story of Toni Jo Henry, the first woman to be executed in the state of Louisiana in 1942. John Hawkes also stars.

Monterey’s Scott Mansfield negotiated the deal with Shoreline Entertainment’s Sam Eigen and Brian Sweet.

“I was fascinated when film-maker Tom Anton brought us this lovingly recreated and compelling story,” said Mansfield. “Since 1903 50 women have ever been executed in the US. By comparison, since 1976, almost 1,400 men have been put to death.”
