Shooman worked at Sony Pictures for a decade; he will attend Toronto for CBS.

In a high-profile hiring, CBS Films has named Scott Shooman Executive Vice President of Acquisitions, it was announced today by president and CEO Amy Baer.

He will attend the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival for CBS.

Shooman will report to CBS Films COO Wolfgang Hammer, who commented, “Scott has a great eye for commercially viable, high quality films like Insidious.  He also possesses a deep passion and healthy aggressiveness for working with filmmakers. Simply put, we’re incredibly excited to welcome him to the team.”

Shooman joins CBS Films after a decade at Sony Pictures, most recently as VP of Acquisitions and Productions. While there, he worked with films including Insidious, Hanna, Machete and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Baer added: “Acquisitions are an important part of our strategy and the addition of Scott gives us new energy and strength.”

CBS Films’ slate includes The Woman In Black starring Daniel Radcliffe and Gambit starring Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz.

Shooman received his BA from USC School of Cinema Television.  He is currently working on his MBA at the USC Marshall School of Business.  His first job in the industry was assistant to Screen Gems VP of Acquisitions, Benedict Carver.
