Ryan Reynolds narrates the documentary about the relationship between humans and the wild orca, set to debut on Aug 20 in the Danish territory.

“We could either have a red-carpet premiere with celebrities at a theatre in LA, or we could do something specific to help whales,” Suzanne Chisholm, the film’s producer and co-director, said. “So when people in the Faroes invited us because they love what this story means, we jumped at the chance.”

Paladin will commence US roll-out on Sept 9. The Whale charts the extraordinary events that ensue after an orca gets separated from his family in British Colombia and attempts to make social contact with local people.

The Faroes archipelago is the site of pilot whale hunts, an activity that has brought activist ships and television crews to the region.
