French sales agent picks up Teona Strugar Mitevska’s drama starring Victoria Abril.

French sales agent Urban Distribution International has picked up worldwide rights to Teona Strugar Mitevska’s Berlinale Panorama entry The Woman Who Brushed Off Her Tears.

Mitevska’s first feature in five years charts the parallel stories of two mothers’ struggle for survival and was shot between Macedonia and Germany.

Spanish actress Victoria Abril, who won the Silver Bear for Best Actress in 1991 for her performance in Amantes, stars with Labina Mitevska.

The Macedonia-Germany-Slovenia-Belgium is director Mitesvska’s third film to screen in the Panorama section, following 2001 short Veta and 2008 feature I Am From Titov Veles, which also picked up the Special Jury Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

Belgian outfit Entre Chien et Loup produced with Sister and Brother Mitevski, Vertigo/Emotionfilm and Ostlicht Filmproduktion.

Urban is also handling Faouzi Bensaidi’s Panorama entry Death For Sale, the Morocco-set story of three young men who take part in a bungled heist, which had its world premiere in Toronto.
