UK indie distributor Downtown Pictures has finalised its acquisition of Julien Temple's Pandaemonium.

Downtown struck the deal with BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the UK broadcaster which funded the film alongside features department BBC Films. Pandaemonium is scheduled for release spring next year.

The film, which stars John Hannah, Linus Roache, Samantha Morton and Emily Woof, made its UK premiere at this month's London Film Festival. Produced by Nick O'Hagan, it charts the relationship between the poets Wordsworth and Coleridge as their friendship turns to rivalry.

Downtown has also picked up Jafar Panahi's The Circle from Paris-based sales agency Celluloid Dreams for a release next spring. Banned by Iran, the Golden Lion winner examines discrimination against women in modern-day Iranian society.
