The Dutch Film Fund has unveiled a new initiative called Ten To Watch, which sees ten directors given Euros 10,000 to develop their next film project.

The scheme was launched during this week's International Film Festival of Rotterdam with the aim of stimulating more artistic and less commercial productions in the Netherlands.

The ten directors are: Mark de Cloe (producer: Theorema Films), Peter Delpeut (producer: Waterland Film & TV), Fow Pyng Hu (producer: Motel Films), Michiel van Jaarsveld (producer: Motel Films), Eugenie Jansen (producer: Circe Films), Mijke de Jong (no producer yet), Pieter Kramer (producer: Nijenhuis & De Levita Film & TV), Nanouk Leopold (producer: Circe Films), Esther Rots (no producer yet) and Alex van Warmerdam (producer: Graniet Film).

The subsidy of 10.000 Euros, a supplement to existing funding, was developed by Mart Dominicus, artistic advisor of the Dutch Film Fund. He said he hopes it creates more 'outspoken' Dutch productions that can also find their way on the international market.
