India’s Eros International has acquired Indian rights to Peddlers, produced by Anurag Kashyap Films and Sikhya Entertainment, which has been selected for Cannes Critics’ Week.

Directed by first-time filmmaker Vasan Bala, Peddlers is the first Hindi-language film to be selected for Critics’ Week and will compete for the Camera d’Or at the festival. Set in Mumbai, it follows a lady on a mission, a man living a lie and an aimless drifter and how they all collide.

Peddlers producer Guneet Monga, of Anurag Kashyap Films and Sikhya Entertainment, describes it as “a film of global appeal, that has been independently financed by seven co-producers and three associate producers, making this partnership a very unique one.”

Bala was Kashyap’s assistant director on Dev D and That Girl In Yellow Boots and associate director of Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna, which filmed in India.
