Film London has started the London Borough Film Fund Challenge to stimulate local film-makingacross the city.

The aim is for every London resident to have access to a local film fund. Fivenew "cluster" funds are being created to represent 13 London boroughs. They are Eastern Edge Film Fund forBarking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge; Tri-Pod Film Fund for Bexley,Greenwich and Bromley;Triangle Film Fund for Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest; Ealing and Hounslow Short Film Production Scheme for Ealing and Hounslow; and South London Film Fund for Lewisham and Southwark.

All residents of theboroughs are eligible to apply for funding of $925-$9254 (£500-£5000) towards theproduction of a short film. The programmes will be run and funded by the boroughs,with investment of $55,525 (£30,000) from Film London.

"Borough film funds play apivotal role in supporting local film-makers to take their first steps withinthe industry and we are confident that this new initiative will encourage London's next generation of film-making talent," said Adrian Wootton, CEO of Film London.
