Fine Line Features has acquired North American rights to Human Nature, the much anticipated movie scripted by Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich) and directed by Michel Gandry.

The film, a Good Machine production which is being sold internationally by StudioCanal, is produced by Good Machine's Ted Hope, Anthony Bregman, Kaufman and Spike Jonze. The large ensemble cast includes Patricia Arquette, Rhys Ifans, Miranda Otto, Tim Robbins and Rosie Perez.

The quirky movie features Arquette as a woman covered in body hair and focuses on her obssession with a man raised as an ape.

The domestic sale to Fine Line was handled by Good Machine and UTA; StudioCanal is fully financing the film.

2000 is a bumper year for Fine Line with films scheduled to be released including Lars Von Trier's Cannes Palme d'Or winner Dancing In The Dark, Brenda Blethyn-starrer Saving Grace which the company bought at the Sundance Film Festival and David Mamet's comedy State And Main which stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Alec Baldwin.
