Aleksi Salmenpera'sfeature directing debut Producing Adults was been selected as the official Finnish submission forthe 2004 foreign language film Oscar.

The romanticcomedy is written by Pekko Pesonen and produced by Petri Jokiranta and TeroKaukomaa's Blind Spot Pictures. It follows Venla (Minna Haapkyla), apsychologist working at an infertility clinic, who decides to have a babywithout telling her husband Antero (Kari-Pekka Toivonen), as he will doanything to avoid it. Further complications arise when she falls for the femaledoctor (Minttu Mustakallio) helping her in the fertilization process.

Despite highlyfavorable reviews, the film's domestic opening on Sep 17 attracted just 11.304admissions, but sales company Celluloid Dreams has sold it to a number of territoriesincluding the US and Canada (Wolfe), Benelux (Paradiso), Portugal (Atlanta),Israel (United King) and Mexico (Constallation). Sonet Film will release thefilm in Sweden. Producing Adults has screened at the Haugesund and Toronto festivals and continueson to Hamburg, Stockholm and AFI FEST in Los Angeles.
