The fourth edition of China’s First Film Festival gets under way on Wednesday (Oct 26-Nov 11) with a programme of more than 80 films and 300 screenings on show in 50 universities across five cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Jinan, and Nanking.

The Festival will present seven sections this year, including tributes to Jeanne Moreau, Joris Ivens, Edward Yang and the Hong Kong New Wave.

Among the first films of New Chinese directors will be The Piano In A Factory and Once Upon  A Time In Tibet.

The festival has a partnership with the Angers Film Festival in France, which sees a film swap between the two events. Among titles to come to China will be Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Attenberg and Feo Aladag’s Die Fremde.

Guests include Europa Cinemas director Claude-Eric Poiroux, actress Julie Gayet and director Tsangari.
