Focus Features has pre-soldRoberto Benigni's latest comedy The Tiger and The Snow to a raft ofterritories ahead of its widely-anticipated Italian release on October 14.

The film has been sold toFrance (Pathe), Germany (Telemunchen), Benelux (A-Film), Greece (Odeon),Iceland (Sena), Portugal (Lusomundo), Scandinavia (Nordisk), Switzerland (AscotElite), Turkey (Ozen).

AQS has acquired rights forBulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania.

Benigni's Baghdad-set comedyhas also been sold to Hong Kong (Panasia), Indonesia (PT Amero), Malaysia(Golden Screen), South Korea (Shaw), Thailand (Nontanund) and South Afrida(Ster Kinekor).

Focus holds worldwide rightsto the film outside Italy and the US.Melampo Cinematografica, the company that belongs to Benigni and hisproducer-actress wife Nicoletta Braschi, expects to close a North Americandistribution deal in coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the film'sItalian distributor, 01 Distribution, is bracing itself for what is likely tobe a huge hit at the local box office, where it will release the Tiger andThe Snow on a massive 800 screens.
