US independent here! Films hasacquired North American rights to UKcomedy Cut Sleeve Boys fromFortissimo Films.

Written and directed by Ray Yeung,the film is set in London'sunderground drag club scene and focuses on the British Chinese gay experienceincluding an all-male production of the MissPacific Rim Beauty Pageant.

Outside of gay and lesbian film festivals, the film ismaking a splash at mainstream events including Rotterdam,where it recently had its world premiere, and the Bangkok International FilmFestival where it screens later this month.

The film is scheduled for a UStheatrical release by here! Films in association with RegentReleasing in autumn 2006.

Yeung is making his feature debuton the film after directing acclaimed short films A Bridge To The Past, which was funded bythe British Arts Council, and Yellow Fever, which won the Audience Award at theMadrid Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

Aside from being a lawyer, Yeungis also known for his award-winning work as a producer and writer of plays andcommercials.

Produced by Yeung and Chowee Leow, Cut Sleeve Boys features an ensemble cast including Leow, Steven Lim, Gareth Rhys Davies, Neil Collie, JohnEbb-On-Knee Campbell and Mark Hampton.
