20th Century Fox International is teaming up with Svensk Filmindustri to form a joint venture for theatrical distribution in Denmark. Under the name Filmcompagniet, the new partnership takes effect from Jan 1, 2001 and will release films from both Fox and Svensk in the territory as well as exploring new opportunities in the Danish market.

Fox previously sub-distributed its product in Denmark through Constantin, a subsidiary of Egmont-owned Nordisk.

The deal with Svensk in Denmark extends a relationship that has already seen a joint venture distribution partnership in Finland (FS Film OY) - headed by Lasse Hyyti - and an association in Norway whereby SF Norway provides certain distribution services for Fox Film A/S formed over the last year. Fox continues to run its own stand-alone organisation in Sweden under Jan Stigwall.

The first quarter 2001 releases through Filmcompagniet will include Quills, Bedazzled and Men Of Honor from Fox. Both Fox and Svensk point to the strengthening exhibition market in Denmark as an indication of the growth and opportunities within the territory.

The announcement was made by Svensk president and CEO Rasmus Ramstad and Fox International senior vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa Christian Grass.
