Jean Labadie's newly formed distribution, sales and co-production company, Le Pacte, has acquired worldwide rights to Francois Ozon's next project, Ricky. Claudie Ossard and Chris Bolzi's Eurowide Film Production is producing in association with effects specialist Buf Compagnie.
Alexandra Lamy and Sergi Lopez star in the film about an ordinary woman and an ordinary man who have an extraordinary child. Shooting is set to begin next month on what Ozon refers to as a fusion of several different genres, 'starting with social realism, then veering into suspense and even horror and flirting with science-fiction and comedy before reaching an emotional finale with fairytale elements.'
Le Pacte will handle theatrical and video sales on Ricky and distribute the film in France. The company is also debuting its first slate including Amat Escalante's Los Batardos and Christophe Honore's La Belle Personne.
The company's team is now comprised of Labadie, his former Bac sales executive Elisabeth Perlie in charge of sales, Xavier Hirigoyen in charge of theatrical distribution and Thomas Pibarot heading up acquisitions.
