Oscar winning director Gabriele Salvatores will shoot his next feature, the comedy Happy Family in Milan from June.

Salvatores' long time producer Maurizio Totti of Colorado Films will produce. The budget and cast have yet to be confirmed.

Speaking to Screendaily, Totti confirmed that the project has been in development for two years and that Salvatores adapted the script from the successful Italian play of the same name by Alessandro Genovesi.

Happy Family is the story of two contemporary families whose lives are forced together when their two headstrong fifteen-year olds announce their intent to marry.

The film is a return to the lighter side for the director of Mediterraneo, whose most recent works have been noir-tinged dramas including 2008's As God Commands and I'm Not Scared.
