Michael Gubbins is stepping down as editor of Screen International and ScreenDaily.com after five years in the role and will be leaving on Feb 11.

He is leaving to pursue new ventures in film and the wider media. Gubbins oversaw a redesign of the weekly magazine and the website and made strong progress in raising the global profile of the brand.

He chaired and spoke at more than 50 major events, conferences and festivals and is a member of advisory boards for a number of key industry bodies.

As well as a writer of columns and analysis and authoring major reports, he was also a regular writer and commentator on television and wrote commentaries for the press including The Times.

'I have been fortunate to work with an inspiring and highly-talented team at an exciting time of change for the industry,' said Gubbins. 'It was a privilege to be editor at one of the greatest B2B brands.'
