HanWay Films has closed a number of deals on a wide variety of titles from its library of 600 films in advance of MIP-TV.

The UK’s Optimum Releasing has re-licensed the Recorded Picture Company collection which includes The Last Emperor by Bernardo Bertolucci and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence by Nagisa Oshima.

Meanwhile Zazie Films has taken rights to The Merchant Ivory collection for Japanwhile Kinowelt has taken the rights for German speaking Europe. Blu-Ray releases are planned in both territories.

From the British Films Institute collection, Straight To Hell and Three Businessmen by Alex Cox have been licensed to King Record in Japan. In addition, RTE in Ireland has acquired the Francis Bacon biopic Love is the Devil by John Maybury starring Daniel Craig and Derek Jacobi.

HanWay’s slate also includes collections from Peter Weir, Wim Wenders and Jean Doumanian.
