Thai martial arts movie Ong-Bak, starring rising action hero Tony Jaa, tops the Hong Kong box office this week with US$732,775 from 30 screens which distributor Edko says is 'within expectations'. The film is already the second highest-grossing Thai movie ever in Hong Kong although it has a long way to go before overtaking Thai comedy The Iron Ladies which grossed HK$15.3m in 2000

The only other opener, Cold Mountain, managed only fifth position with US$195,823 from 18 screens for a screen average of US$10,879. Of the other releases, Lost In Translation has the highest screen average - US$16,395. In its second week, the film grossed US$81,975 from five sites.

Hong Kong production Leaving Me Loving You slipped to second position in its second week with US$316,344 from 27 screens. The Shanghai-set love story is directed by Wilson Yip and stars Faye Wong and Leon Lai who also takes a production credit. The film is produced by Lai's manager, Joseph Chan, of Paciwood Music and Entertainment.
